Just a reminder to our students and parents about our SOMC Eastern Family Practice. A few years ago we had a vision to bring our community an opportunity to seek medical care without having to travel.
The practice is open to anyone and has separate entrances and waiting rooms for the public and for any student that is visiting the clinic during school hours.
I just want to make it very clear that no student can visit the clinic without a written consent on file AND verbal permission before any visit to the clinic. I will not take your child to the clinic without contacting you first.
The clinic will not vaccinate your child or perform any test without calling you first. No exceptions!! Covid testing is not available at the clinic.
Please understand the goal of the clinic is to help children and parents receive quick medical care without putting a strain on parents to seek transportation. Also it is to help improve attendance with quick treatment. The visit is billed as a family practice visit rather than an urgent care so this also helps our families with medical bills.
Please, if you have any questions or want to clarify anything, give me a call. This is a great opportunity for our community and Kristie, the Nurse Practitioner, is very knowledgeable and thorough.
I am looking forward to a safe and happy year!! Positive attitudes and thoughts go a long way!
Your school nurse,
Autumn Risner BSN, RN
