Updated COVID Guidance & Procedures Announced

Parents and Staff,

We have received new guidance from the Ohio Department of Health through the Pike County Health Department regarding the Covid-19 Virus.  This new guidance changes the procedures we use in dealing with students and staff members who may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.  As we as a District have followed the guidelines sent to us from state and local agencies from the beginning of the pandemic, the Eastern Local School District will implement the recommendations that we have received.  The changes that will take effect immediately follow:

2021-2022 Health & Safety Guidelines
The document below includes the healthy and safety guidelines for 2021-2022 school year. All guidelines are subject to change as needed.

Update: The district implemented a new policy regarding masks on 9/13/21. At this time, the current mask policy will remain in place (masks are encouraged, but not required in the building; masks are required on the bus). However, if any of the four district pods (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12) reach 10 active cases in that pod, students in that pod will be required to wear a mask for 10 calendar days. If, at the end of 10 days, the number of active cases has fallen below 10, the pod mask requirement will be lifted.
